Spring Drama, Part 3 — Ms. Della Clason Sperling served as the juror of awards for the three Barebrush May calendars, stepping in when the announced curator suddenly because unavailable. Ms. Sperling is no stranger to Barebrush, having selected the calendar art for February 2009 (when she joked about the short month!) and March 2012.

Ms. Sperling's three Curators' Choice nominees for Best-of-the-Rest are: Tilt Shopping Center, a watercolor by Ione Citrin of Los Angeles, CA; Three Days, Three Men, a watercolor by Jacqueline Saunders of Burke, VA; and Observer, a mixed-media piece by Geoffrey Stein of New York, NY.

Two artists are making their Barebrush calendar debut: Robert Copelan from Lynchburg, VA and Terence Kelly from Manchester, UK.

The 31 artists represented in May, 2013, in day order are: 1* Ione Citrin, 2 Mateus Costa, 3 Jon Rettich, 4 Ilene Skeen, 5 Stephanie Fuller, 6 Gil Conradis, 7* Jacqueline Saunders, 8 Jon Rettich, 9 Bill Foote, 10 Peter Wong King, 11 Lindsay Rabson, 12 Darlene Kuhne, 13 Guadalupe Herrera, 14 Taehyub Lee, 15 Janet E Gorman, 16 Robert Copelan, 17 Terence Kelly, 18 Robert Copelan, 19 Elizabeth Sowell-Zak, 20 Robert Copelan, 21 Sam Martine, 22 Rebecca Venn, 23 Jean Marcellino, 24 Darlene Kuhne, 25* Geoffrey Stein, 26 Pacifico Palumbo, 27 Dan Simoneau, ISAP, 28 Jacqui Morgan, 29 Roger Cummiskey, 30 Donelli J. DiMaria, 31 Jacqui Morgan.

Each of the artists selected for the calendar receives two (2) complimentary listings for each artwork included in this calendar. Three artists, indicated by asterisks (*), are nominated for the Curators Choice Awards. Curators’ Choice nominees receive 8 additional complimentary listings. The top artist receives an additional prize. Viewers can also vote for “The People's Choice,” a poll which includes all of the art in the calendar. The top three artworks in The People's Choice win one (1) complementary listing for their artists. Winners announced June 1st.

The Barebrush Provenance for each artwork is viewable by clicking on the calendar thumbnail (above) or on the caption under the artwork from each artist’s Barebrush Gallery page. The Barebrush program of retiring artworks that have been selected for three calendars is designed to encourage all artists to show their best new work and keep their online galleries fresh and interesting.
