Happy 2014: A New Year's Toast to the Triumph of Art -- Guest curator, Charles Yoder, paints full time, teaches printmaking part time at the School of Visual Arts, is Vice President of the Artists' Fellowship Inc. and is Chairman of the Art Committee of the Salmagundi Club.
Mr. Yoder selected the three Curators' Choice nominees for January, launching the new year with In Shadow/Chris, a simple and brooding graphite and pastel, expertly realized by Eddie Torres of New York, NY. Mr. Yoder selected the exciting circus image, Blackjack by Joseph Mays of Louisville KY; and the delightful watercolor, Three Days, Three Men by Jacqueline Saunders of Burke, Va.
Artworks making their calendar debut: 18. Of the thirteen repeaters, two are retiring, having been selected here for their third calendar. They are: Lucky Spotty #4 by Pacifico Palumbo of Colrain, MA; and Skelestial by Lindsay Rabson of Merrick, NY.
Art for this calendar comes from 12 states as well as Edmonton, Canada; San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; St. Petersburg, Russia; and Manchester, England.

Each of the artists selected for the calendar receives two (2) complimentary listings for each artwork included in this calendar. Three artists, indicated by asterisks (*
), are nominated for the Curators Choice Awards
. Curators’ Choice nominees receive 8 additional complimentary listings. The top artist receives an additional prize.
Viewers can also vote for “The People's Choice,”
a poll which includes all of the art in the calendar. The top three artworks in The People's Choice win one (1) complementary listing for their artists. Winners announced February 1st.
