Summer's Last Hurrah — Guest curator for September is Claudia Seymour, former president of the Salmagundi Club, widely collected artist, and formidable art collector in her own right. Due to a scheduling glitch, Ms. Seymour was unavailable for the August calendar, and so graciously agreed to do September.

Ms. Seymour chose an evocative pastel, Emma by Jean Marcellino of New York, NY to launch September, looking back at August. She also selected as Curators' Choice nominees: a sparkling oil painting, Kristal by Svetlana Kanyo of Edmonton, Canada; a mysterious and accomplished oil, Araidne auf Naxos by Bruce Erikson of Maineville, OH; Nude Study Silhouette a pen and ink drawing of great control by Terence Kelly of Manchester, UK; and a languid ink wash, A Tall Man by Jacqueline Saunders of Burke, VA.

One artist, Richard Bulman of Bellingham, WA, is making his calendar debut.

One artwork is retiring, a watercolor, Venus N*de and Mostly Nude Cover by the late Jacqui Morgan of New York City. Jacqui, an inspirational educator, iconic illustrator, acclaimed visual artist, renowned watercolor painter, noted author, and simply wonderful lady, died in July and a memorial is planned for September at FIT, where she taught Watercolor Compositions.

Jacqui Morgan, you left the world a wealth of beautiful art. You enjoyed both art and people. We enjoyed you. Now, your warm and intelligent delight in creating art is no more. Still, we will continue to treasure your art and our memories of you, and thus we will keep you alive in our selves as long as we are here and breathing.

The 30 artists represented in September, 2013, in day order are: 1* Jean Marcellino, 2 Jacqui Morgan, 3 Sandy Ryan, 4 Robert Copelan, 5 C. Charles Wang, 6 William Jobling, 7 Jon Rettich, 8 Richard Bulman, 9 Gil Conradis, 10* Svetlana Kanyo, 11 Chanit Roston, 12 Neal Smithwillow, 13 Jerry Ralya, 14 Donald Kolberg, 15 Richard White, 16 Thomas Stevens, 17* Bruce Erikson, 18 Christian Beels, 19 Addo Ashong, 20 Rebecca Venn, 21* Terence Kelly, 22* Jacqueline Saunders, 23 Robert Markey, 24 Paul Rybarczyk, 25 Brian Crede, 26 Larry Scaturro, 27 William Thierfelder, 28 Gary Paul Stutler, 29 Mateus Costa, 30 Penelope Przekop.

Each of the artists selected for the calendar receives two (2) complimentary listings. Five artists, indicated by asterisks (*), are nominated for the Curators Choice Awards. Curators’ Choice nominees receive 8 additional complimentary listings. The top three artists receive additional prizes. Viewers can also vote for “My Favorite N*de,” a poll which includes all of the art in the calendar. The top three artworks in My Favorite N*de win one (1) complementary listing for their artists. Winners announced October 1st.

The Barebrush Provenance for each artwork is viewable by clicking on the calendar thumbnail (above) or on the caption under the artwork from each artist’s Barebrush Gallery page. The Barebrush program of retiring artworks that have been selected for three calendars is designed to encourage all artists to show their best new work and keep their online galleries fresh and interesting.
