Happy New Year -- Guest curator, Alexander Katlan, is a professional art conservator to museums, historical societies, corporations and fine private collections. Mr. Katlan holds a MA in Art History and an MFA in painting conservation. He is the author of four books on exhibition history and many articles on painting conservation. In 2008, Mr. Katlan was awarded the Medal of Honor and Merit from the Salmagundi Club of New York City.
Mr. Kaplan selected three Curators' Choice nominees for January, starting the year with Into the Light, an austere drawing, making us wonder just what the new year will bring. Each of the Curators' Choice nominees are noted by the starred dates in the list: 1* Into the Light (drawing|graphite) by Michael Bailey of Cottonwood, AZ; 7* Ruby ( a powerful oil) by Seonyoung Kim of Woodside, NY; 20* Woman Reclining on Mud Cloth (another oil, but with the feeling of a good-hearted romp) by David Schulz of Middletown, CT.

Art for this calendar comes from 12 states and Mexico.

), are nominated for the Curators Choice Awards
. Curators’ Choice nominees receive 8 additional complimentary listings. The top artist receives an additional prize.
Viewers can vote for “My Favorite N*de,”
a poll which includes all of the art in the calendar. The top three artworks in My Favorite N*
de win one (1) complementary listing for their artists. Winners announced February 1st.
