2016 Nudes Emerge -- Happy New Year -- Guest curator, Della Clason Sperling is an art enthusiast in fields as disparate as late nineteenth century Victorian Painting, Feminist Issues, and Outsider Art. She received her doctorate in art history from Columbia University in 1993. Ms. Sperling has served as curator, researcher, and writer for several art exhibitions. Most recently, Ms. Sperling worked on "The Legacy of Ferdinand A. Brader," at the Canton (Ohio) Museum of Art, for which she both lectured and published, and was co-juror of the 72nd May Show at the North Canton/'s Little Art Gallery.

Ms. Sperling selected three Curators' Choice nominees for January, (starred dates in the list): 1* Amanda Emergent (charcoal/carbon) by Jean Marcellino of New York, NY; 14* One Taken One Left (watercolor) by Marie-Paule Martin of New York City, NY; 19* Heat (pastel) by Jerry Ralya of Craftsbury Common, VT.

Art for this calendar comes from 14 states and Canada.

Each of the artists selected for the calendar receives two (2) complimentary listings for each of their artworks selected.

Three artists, indicated by asterisks (*), are nominated for the Curators Choice Awards. Curators’ Choice nominees receive 8 additional complimentary listings. All the Barebrush curators have an opportunity to view and judge the art. The top artist receives an additional prize. Winners announced February 1st.
