Still Falling in Love with Nudes, Part 2 — Guest curator, David Masello, writes about art and culture for the New York Times, Town & Country (where he was senior editor), Fine Art Connoisseur, American Arts Quarterly, and many other periodicals. In addition, Mr. Masello is the author of two books: Architecture Without Rules: The Houses of Marcel Breuer and Herbert Beckhard, and New York's 50 Best Art in Public Places.
Mr. Masello selected the three Curators' Choice nominees for November, launching the month with a cubist homage which appeared first in July, El vitral - Stained glass by Gabriel Sanchez of Mexico City, Mexico. Mr. Masello also chose two debut pieces, Mystery by Dan Simoneau, ISAP of Kenosha, WI; and Waft in Patchouli by Peter King of Cochiti Lake, NM.
Six artworks in this calendar are now "forced" to retire from competition, this being their third Barebrush calendar appearance. They are: Naked Lady 4 by Corrie Ancone from Sydney, Australia; Moonlight and Shadows by Mike Rudahl from Albuquerque, NM; Triangles by Peter King from Cochiti Lake, NM; Nude Lady by Robert Copelan from Lynchburg, VA; Sarah_M_8-12-11--06AB by Dan McCormack from Accord, NY; and James II by Robert Ferguson from Escondido, CA.
The art for November comes from 7 states as well as Australia, Mexico, Panama and Russia.
In October, Barebrush.com held its second "brick & mortar" invitational gallery show, Falling in Love with Nudes++. Sales were modest, but better than last time, so the trend is up. Will we do it again next year? Stay tuned....
