Happy Holidays -- Celebration of Art of the Nude, Part 2 -- Guest curator, Ed Brennan, has been a member of the Salmagundi Club since 1973. He is an active and popular artist member and patron, as well as a former Salmagundi President and former Chairman. The Salmagundi Club was founded in 1871, as a band of congenial artists and art patrons, sharing art fellowship, food and fun in New York City and beyond. The Club was "organized" by official charter in 1880 as the Salmagundi Sketch Club. It is now also known as the Salmagundi Art Club.
Mr. Brennan selected the three Curators' Choice nominees for December, launching the month with a strong composition of contrasts -- lights and darks, soft and hard, dense and sheer: Patrick - Shirt by Dan Simoneau, ISAP of Kenosha, WI. Mr. Brennan also selected an effectively shocking gray scale photo, Hidden Pearls by Bare Ass Art Studio-Gabe Edwards of Lutz, FL; and a demure shot, Between Poses by Richard Biemann of Sheboygan, WI.
Twenty-one artworks in this calendar appear in the Barebrush calendars for the first time. One artist is making his Barebrush calendar debut, Troy Cooper of Norfolk, VA, converting a photo to a poster with Cali as Art Nouveau. Three artworks are retiring, now having been selected for three calendars -- Blue Nude by Mike Rudahl from Albuquerque, NM; Perch by William Zuback from West Allis, WI; and Naked Lady 8 by Corrie Ancone from Sydney, Australia.
The art for December in this calendar comes from 7 states as well as Australia, Mexico, Panama and Russia.
