Freeze and Fervor -- Guest curator, Sherry Camhy, is an artist, author and teacher. Her work is in the permanent collection of several museums and has been featured in art magazines as well as museum and gallery shows. Ms. Camhy was curator for "The Silverpoint Exhibition" (National Arts Club 2014). Her book, Art of the Pencil was published by Watson-Guptill, and Ms. Camhy is now the author of the Drawing Magazine column, "Material World." In addition to teaching at the Art Students League and several colleges, Ms. Camhy teaches in her studio in West Chelsea and also runs workshops, with two coming up: silverpoint in May (New York) and painting in July (France).
Ms. Camhy selected Chilly by Paul Callahan of Wauwatosa, WI to launch the month. Callahan cleverly entices our sensibilities by noting in his description that the model is
A beautiful lady, confident in her own skin, albeit a bit chilly in the winter sun.
For those of us in NY under a new blanket of snow and more expected, this launch whets our appetite for the following February artworks which, both indoor and out, make us think fondly of warmer times and climes.
