Title: Cincinnati Astronaut III

Desc: Receiving the welder's helmet as a birthday present, I brought it along on a road trip to Cincinnati on a lark. Thinking of posing for it during the photo shoot a friend and I did was meant to be whimsical, but the anonymity of the welder's helmet created an atmosphere of intrigue. The concept of the three figures as a woman (any woman) having been beaten down, as in this drawing, only to find it in herself to rise (Cincinnati Astronaut II). Finding the strength inside, anyone having been beaten would know the feeling of triumph (Cincinnati Astronaut III). These drawings are studies for a painting.
