Title: Solstice

Desc: I made this drawing shortly after the Winter Solstice. The Winter Solstice is an important time for me. I live in the deep countryside, and very much look forward to the return of the light. Here the supple beauty of the reclining model is just hinted at by a few lines, symbolizing to me the returning light and its promise.

The paper is the lighter color, and I add the darker color with a pastel stick and my finger. This time I used a darker pastel shade than usual, and an ocher-colored paper, to try to hint at the gold of the returning sun. No technology is involved.

Media: pastel

Genre: nude
