There is an argument between them and Salmagundi Club about which is oldest art club in the United States

Most exciting to me is that what we know as the Ashcan School in NY were members down there and newspaper illustrators.

When newspapers went to photography these people moved to NY, joined Salmagundi Club and the Art Students League and proceeded to depict the real, rough, NY.
