Some hints on using this search:
- This search finds art matching the criteria you enter. You must select at least one of the three options to see results.
- Genres: Choosing a genre is optional. When you select a genre, only that genre will appear in the results.
- Media: Choosing media is optional. When you select media, the results will include all types of media appropriate to your selection. For example, choosing “Painting” will include oil, watercolor, pastel and acrylic. Continuing the example, if you want to find only oil and watercolor, select “See text box.” Then enter “oil watercolor” in the text box with your other criteria, if any. No commas or quotes are necessary.
- Text: Entering a word or phrase in the text box is optional. The text box is a "full text" search which means that it frequently may expand your results beyond your expectation or desire. Enter your word or phrase, and then add media if you so desire. To make the narrowest possible search, clear the form and enter either your specific medium or a one or two word search term but not both in the text box. When both media and other text are entered, the effect is to expand the search beyond the selected medium. If the genre is selected, the search will return all instances of that term within that genre and across all media.
