December 2016 — BAREBRUSH presents Best-of-the-Rest calendar for December 2016. Barebrush offers the best art gallery and art contest, online since 2006. A total of 350 artworks were entered by 46 artists world-wide. Barebrush guest curator, Sherry Camhy, Art Students League, selected the art and chose the Curators’ Choice nominees. A total of 30 artists represent the 31 artworks for the 31 days in December. Three of the artworks were selected as nominees for the Curators’ Choice awards. Winners will be determined based on voting by the Barebrush.com curators. Viewers can see the Best-of-the-Rest calendar on the website.

About the December 2016 Calendar

Spirit and Wisdom: Finding Peace of Mind for Year-End. #3 -- Guest curator, Sherry Camhy, is an artist, author and teacher. Her work is in the permanent collection of several museums and has been featured in art magazines as well as museum and gallery shows. As an artist-in-training, Ms. Camhy was class monitor to a world-famous anatomy teacher and author. Her latest contribution to art history is the publication of her lecture notes and drawings from his classes. About this gorgeous and impressive book, Robert Beverly Hale, she says,

Ever since I started teaching, I have attempted to carry on the tradition of his knowledge, wisdom and spirit in my art.

Look closely at each artwork in December to allow yourself to delight in that same spirit and wisdom from Sherry Camhy.

Thirteen artworks are being retired, having now appeared in three calendars: Power At Work, No.11 by Elizabeth Sowell-Zak of New York, NY; Big Sur by Chanit Roston of , NY; The Two by Jean Marcellino of New York, NY; JUNO (self portrait) by Damir May of Vienna, AUSTRIA; Catalyst on a Rock by Ilene Skeen of New York, NY; Close Up by Peter Wong King of Cochiti Lake, NM; Red Horse by Pacifico Palumbo of Colrain , MA; Mavis in Coordinated Black Prints by Patricia McDermond of Peekskill, NY; Shadow of a Dream by Dan Simoneau, ISAP of Kenosha, WI; Cup match by Neal Smithwillow of San Miguel de Allende, MEXICO; Thames by Marie-Paule Martin of New York City, NY; Midnight by William Zuback of West Allis, WI; My Portrait by Darlene Kuhne of Arvada, CO.

Art for this calendar comes from 13 states, Panama, Mexico and Austria.

Three artists, indicated by asterisks (*), are nominated for the Curators’ Choice Awards. Barebrush curators (past and present) vote on the Curators’ Choice nominees.
