Kitsune Defender by Terry Tayler

Title: Kitsune Defender

Desc: Acrylic, pastel, and charcoal on canvas.

My Kitsune Series is something Iíve been focusing on for the last couple month now. Itís derived from Japanese myth and folklore. I like to come up with new and interesting ideas to depict them in non traditional ways. While it is a Japanese concept, I use imagery from depictions of Egyptian gods, as well as Mexican culture. Comics and Japanese anime are also evident influences in these works. However, the work process is derived from influences in art history. Wild brushstrokes, bright vibrant colors, and distortion of the figure are more than common elements found in any of my work. Genres such as cubism, fauvism, futurism, and abstract expressionism help me produce these pieces.
